Your working conditions directly affect your health and safety and it goes without saying ‘your well-being.’
An estimated 2.2 million people suffer ill-health caused by the work they must do to earn a living. What is more shocking is that the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) estimate that 70% of those cases of ill-health are caused by management failings and that up to 90% of cases could have been prevented.
Your branch takes Health and Safety very seriously which is why we aim to have a safety representative to cover each workplace where we have members.
It is not the obvious hazards like machinery or dangerous chemicals that are a problem there are many hazards and bad working practices that can cause serious injury or ill health.
